Employment Type:Full timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:PHARMACY TECH LEAD, CANCER CENTERSummary:Support pharmacy management by guiding daily pharmacy technician operations. Ensure other pharmacy technicians have the resources and training necessary to perform their jobs effectively. Oversee either pharmacy automation, packaging, or a dedicated pharmacy technician operations in tandem with pharmacy leadership and serves as a leader and mentor to pharmacy technician peers.Requirements:

• Must be licensed as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a pharmacy technician required, preferred to have 6 months with Saint Alphonsus.
  • National Certification (CPhT, ExCPT or equivalent) required. Completion of college level certificate or bachelor's degree preferred.What you will do:
    • Supervises and assists pharmacy technicians with their roles in the pharmacy. Provides structure and oversight for pharmacy technician orientation, training, and competency assurance. Coaches less experienced staff. Schedules pharmacy technicians, finds replacements for technicians out sick or on vacation and ensures shift changes run smoothly. Reviews and adjusts workflow to meet work demand (ex. sick calls, high patient volumes).
    • Appropriately utilizes resources to ensure shifts are adequately covered. Conducts technician huddles and participates in department quarterly and annual meetings. Assists in hiring/recruitment (in coordination with pharmacy management) Counsels staff members on their performance and provides documentation of exemplary and unsatisfactory work performance at time of occurrence. Assists in performance evaluations in coordination with pharmacy management. Monitors monthly technician tasks (e.g., outdates, unit inspections) and provides follow up.
    • Maintains outdated medication tracking function, ensuring appropriate expiration dates are entered, stock is rotated, and expired items removed. Oversees the filling of medications on restock lists and quarantines until checked and verified by a pharmacist; oversees the loading of medications from restock lists into automated distribution system correctly.

    • Maintains competency to work in the IV room, including performing hazardous compounding. Provides some functional supervision of technicians. Ensures required departmental functions are completed to provide effective and efficient service.
